The World's Best Cranberry Sauce

The World's Best Cranberry Sauce

Ahhhhhh, it’s finally Thanksgiving. Which means lotssss of food, family, and cranberry sauce. Yep, cranberry sauce. Now you might be thinking “I hate cranberry sauce” or “is she really talking about the maroon jellied log that is the same shape as the can?” Why yes, I am talking about cranberry sauce, but this is not your average side dish. My cranberry sauce is sweet, crunchy, and out of this world good.

My recipe is a Barnes (my maiden name) family Thanksgiving staple. There are some families who could go without cranberry sauce, and then there are others that have it as a main dish which HAS to be on the table each year. Mine is the latter. This cranberry sauce is something we all look forward to when the leaves start to fall and the air becomes crisp. It would not be Thanksgiving without it. For us it would be like having Thanksgiving dinner without turkey. It must be there.

Let's Talk Brownies

Let's Talk Brownies

Who doesn’t love a chocolaty brownie?!? I haven’t met anyone who could turn one down, they are dense, rich, and ohhh soooo good. But there is a HUGE debate about what makes the perfect brownie. Fudgy or cakey. Middle piece or chewy edges? It’s similar to the pe-CAN or pe-CON debacle here is the south. I am going to settle this now. The BEST brownie is one that is fudgy and has at least one chewy edge. There, I said it. Now if you agree with me you need to make this brownie recipe ASAP, and if you do not agree with me then you need to make this recipe ASAP so you can realize I am right ;) Just kidding, it’s cool if you like cakey brownies, but I still suggest you try out this recipe. These brownies are chocolaty, fudgy, chewy, and all around perfect. They make great bake sale items, dinner party desserts, or a sweet treat to bring your friend who just had a baby. So next time you crave something sweet, whip up these babies. You, and whoever you live with, will thank me.

Homemade Pizza (kinda)

Homemade Pizza (kinda)
One of the simplest pleasures in life is a humongous pizza. Sit and imagine with me.. the warm pepperoni, creamy sauce, garlicky crust, chock full of your fave toppings, and capped off with cheese. It doesn’t get much better than that. In our house, semi homemade pizza is our thing. I do not remember when we started making homemade pizzas, but I am sure glad we did. We get reallyyyyy into it. Like so into it that we get cranky with one another because we want to execute it just right.

Honey Bun Cake, a.k.a. The Best Cake For When The Fall Weather Kicks In (heck I might even say the BEST cake you will ever eat!)

Honey Bun Cake, a.k.a. The Best Cake For When The Fall Weather Kicks In (heck I might even say the BEST cake you will ever eat!)

Happy Monday! I don’t know if a happy Monday exists, but if you make this cake, it will greatly improve your Monday attitude. This recipe is for a cake that has been part of my life since I was a kid. It comes from my childhood best friend and her mom. Where they got it I do not know, but whoever created this masterpiece, thank you. I would request this cake frequently from Mrs. Beth, my friends mom who put up with me on a weekly basis. She gladly gave me the recipe a few years ago, probably because she was tired of baking it for me (seriously I asked her for this cake wayyy too often, I guess my mother skipped the manners lessons).
